SPEAK UP
Brevard is once again promoting the annual SpeakUp Survey offered by Project Tomorrow.  The Speak Up data represents the largest collection of authentic, unfiltered stakeholder input on education, technology, 21st century skills, schools of the future and science instruction. Education, business, and policy leaders report using the data regularly to inform federal, state, and local education programs.  For each of the last two years, we have seen significant increases in  our community response rates.  In fact, in 2007 Brevard was recognized for having seven of the nation’s Top 200 schools according to participation statistics.   The survey will remain open through December 19.
More information is available at http://www.tomorrow.org/speakup/speak_up_faq.html

STUDYING FOR THE SAT OR AP EXAMS? NEW TESTING DATABASE!
We are literally THRILLED to be able today to offer our students the opportunity to use the Gale/Cengage Testing and Education Reference Center!! With this electronic database our students can take full length practice tests that are just like the real thing. Some of the practice tests are ACT, AP, SAT, GED, and many, many more. There is also current info on colleges, scholarships, financial aid, eBooks on test preparation, and even graduate level prep tests.
The link to the Testing and Education Reference Center is on the “Research It” page of our website (http://cbhslmc.edublogs.org/) . Just click “Power Search” and the Testing Center is at the very bottom of the list. To take the practice tests, students just register as new users and go.  The password for use at home is cbhs.

ZUMBA DANCE CLASS
Because of the exam schedule, Zumba dance class will be tomorrow, Tuesday (instead of Wednesday) from 3:30 to 4:30 pm in the cafeteria.
Zumba will continue after the Holidays every Wednesday from 3:30 – 4:30 in the cafeteria.   Zumba is a core workout that targets the abs and back, and burns an estimated 600 to 1,000 calories. Zumba also includes interval training (exercising at aerobic and anaerobic levels according to each individuals heart rate), which provides an efficient workout in a limited time span. Participants can adjust their level of intensity to fit their particular fitness level. Price: $4 for adults and $3 for students.   BRING A FRIEND AND PAY ONLY $2 each. Proceeds go to the Spanish Honor Society and the Spanish Club
NEW GUITAR CLUB
When school resumes in January, the Guitar Club will start meeting Wednesdays after school in Portable 5 until 4:30 pm. Bring your own equipment. Students in grades 7-12 who play all styles of music or want to learn are welcome. Talk to Mr. Morrill for details.  The next meeting will be on Jan. 14.

MISPLACED ITEMS
PLEASE double check items and articles of clothing that your student has brought home and make sure that you are certain the articles belong to you. For example, we still have missing suit jackets and other such items from the Homecoming Dance. If you discover that you accidentally picked up something that does not belong to you, please bring it in.
